Hi Pennsylvanian,

thanks for this explanation and the interesting interpretation. And don't worry about writing in English, it's much appreciated - we're an English Forum.
It's just that sometimes it's easier for us to explain things in German or we simply find it more convenient to express our thoughts in our mother tongue. But we generally prefer English - if possible!

Nun ist diese Art von Musik hoffentlich nicht die, welche Du für Deinen Nachhilfeunterricht im Auge hattest? Das würde ich eher lassen, denn Rap udglm. sind nicht dafür bekannt, dass sie sich an die grammatischen Regeln irgendeiner Sprache halten. Müssen sie ja auch nicht, aber ich würde da nicht unbedingt eine verunsicherte Schülerin dranlassen...

After having had a chance to listen to the different versions of the song several times, I have to question the validity of the word "AIDS" in these lyrics. To me, it doesn't sound like he's saying "AIDS" at all, but "they."

I've never heard of anyone going around testing for stress in the ghetto (I'm laughing as I picture this ), so I confess I'm still somewhat baffled by the meaning here.

In standard English, the "will" is required. It's removal is purely dialetical, as is the use of the word "brother" here. *Most* people would not phrase similar sentiments in this way, even conversationally.

Sorry, dass ich jetzt einen schon fast uralten Faden ausgrabe, allerdings konnte ich mich einfach nicht davon abhalten, meinen Senf dazu zu geben, zumindest was diese kryptische "AIDS tested (!)" Zeile angeht.

Meiner Meinung nach sagt Tupac ganz deutlich (naja, verhältnismäßig deutlich, versteht sich ): "They tested with stress that they under" --> (ein bisschen grammatische Reinigung) --> "They are being tested with stress that they are under" --> (sinngemäß) --> "They are being tested by the stress that they are under" (i.e. the stress that they're under is testing them).

Simple, really!
