In the Living Room
Daughter: “Dad, do you have a minute?”
Father: “Sure, Honey. What´s up?”
Daughter: “Can I have some money?”
Father: “What do you need it for? Didn’t I already give you some money?”
Daughter: “It’s not enough. I want to go shopping with my friends today.”
Father: “Hmm. Don’t you have some homework to do, or something?”
Daughter: “Come on, Dad…it’s the weekend!”
Father: “Sure. But you can’t spend the whole weekend partying and hanging out with your friends. You need to spend time studying on the weekend too.”
Daughter: “I study enough, Dad. Actually, I study too much!”
Father: “I’m not sure.”
Daughter: “It’s true. I aced my Biology test this week.”
Father: “That’s good. I´m proud of you. But don’t get lazy.”
Daughter: “I won’t. Stop worrying. I’m a good student. Now can I PLEASE have some money?”
Father: “How much do you want?”
Daughter: “20£.”
Father: “What? You get 15£ a month already; that´s more than enough. ”
Daughter: “Dad, come on!”
Father: “Sorry, 20£ is too much.”
Daughter: “But I already cleaned my room and I’ll stay home and study all day tomorrow!”
Father: “Great. But honestly, 20£ is too much. What did you do with the 15£ I gave you already?”
Daughter: “Nothing. I’m saving it to buy a new mobile phone”
Father: “Well, I can’t give you money now. I’ll have to talk to your mother about it first.”
Daughter: “But Mum is working. She won’t be home until tonight.”
Father: “So?”
Daughter: “That’s too late. My friends are going shopping this morning.”
Father: “I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do.”
Daughter: “My friends will be here in an hour to pick me up!”
Father: “Well, you have to be reasonable. 20£ is just too much.”
Daughter: “But…oh Granny is here!”
Father: “What’s that?”
Daughter: “I have to go, Dad. Bye!”
