Re: road traffic
Don't worry, I was able to understand it fine, heh. Just depends who's reading it and what inferences their minds can make with certain amounts of context.goodox hat geschrieben:Marvel heißt doch staunen!?
Either "marvel" or "amazed" would fit fine in that sentence. "I marvel at your commitment." or "I'm amazed by your commitment."No problem, I love you both for the correction. I'm marvel about your engagement.
(I'd change "engagement" to "commitment," though, as engagement (without "in <whatever>" after it) typically means engagement to be married.)

So, what does the wink smiley mean here? Are you not sincere, or is there another meaning to it I'm missing?goodox hat geschrieben:Ok. I'm amazed by your commitment.

I'd say the smiley was just a friendly gesture. I use them quite a lot without actually thinking about a possible ambiguous meaning.tiorthan hat geschrieben:So, what does the wink smiley mean here? Re: road traffic
Mine was not a criticism of your use of smileys but a sincere question. I cannot read or interpret the use of facial expressions intuitively, and that also applies to smileys to some extent. So I have to learn by asking what was meant by it, if it isn't directly obvious to me.goodox hat geschrieben:I'll try to use smileys correctly in future.
But you don't have to change your idiomatic use of emoticons just to accommodate me as long as the normal people around here understand what you mean.
