Wie kann ich "very walk" übersetzen?

Ich lese gerade ein englisches Buch und bin über folgenden Satz gestolpert:

Once, the sound of this man's very walk caused all our movement to stop.

Was bedeutet das "very"?

I'm not sure that's exactly right. "His very walk" means "only his walk, and nothing more" - the implication is that the man is so intimidating or alarming that a normally unremarkable action is sufficient to create fear and unease.
