Hallo Leute

Today I want to present you a cartoon which was published in 2007 on blog called “hashout”.
The cartoon shows a scene in a house. There’s a middle aged, desperate-looking man sitting at a kitchen table. Next to him, in the living room, there is a woman, perhaps his wife who is reading a magazine. The man who is obviously in a depression says that he is looking for the meaning of the life. Instead of helping the man in this hard time of his life, the woman only gives him the advice to try Google. The cartoonist wants to point out that today someone who is looking for help can’t rely on their family and friends like they used to. They have to turn to the internet instead.
Danke im vorraus und liebe grüße

Today I want to present you a cartoon which was published in 2007 on a blog called “hashout”.
The cartoon shows a scene in a house. A middle-aged, desperate-looking man is sitting at a kitchen table. Through the open door we see a woman, perhaps his wife, in the living room. She is reading a magazine.
The depressed man says that he is looking for the meaning of the life. Without raising her eyes from the magazine the woman advises him to try Google.
Instead of helping the man in this obviously difficult phase of life by speaking to, encouraging or consoling him, the woman does not show any interest at all.
The cartoonist wants to point out that nowadays a person who is looking for help cannot necessarily rely on their family and friends like they used to. They have to turn to the internet instead. On top of that he ridicules the blind faith of many people that the internet has all the answers - even those to the essential questions of being.
Wähle aus, was Dir gefällt.

War was dabei?
Good luck says

Re: Cartoon Beschreibung
Today I want to present you a cartoon which was published in 2007 on a blog called „hashout“
The cartoon shows a scene in a house. A middle-aged man is sitting at a kitchen table.
He is desperate-looking and seems to be in a crisis. On the table there is a cup but without a saucer what looks a bit uncomfortable.
I think the cartoonist wants to point out that today a person who needs help cannot necessarily rely on their family and friends like they used to, because in our days many people think information could replace emotions. For example a man in his midlife crisis who asks for the meaning of life does need the answer 42, he needs somebody to talk to.
(Btw. The Answer 42 is a quotation from the book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, in Germany known under the title “per Anhalter durch die Galaxis” and it’s the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything)
These people although think that the internet has all the answers – even those to the essential questions of being.
Another way to interpret this cartoon could be that many people don’t listen closely to the things that were said. The woman only listened to the word searching and answered with Google without knowing what the man is searching.
The cartoon is very sarcastically because it wants to illustrate the absurdness what many people think they could find in the all-knowing internet
