ich habe den folgenden Text zusammengeschustert.
Da ich meinen Englischkenntnissen nicht recht traue, bitte euch mal drüber zusehen.
Ich bin über jeden Tipp und Korrektur sehr dankbar.

History changed on 4 October 1957 when the Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik I. On 12 April 1961 Gagarin became the first man to travel into space.
It was the beginning of manned spaceflight. During the Cold War a racing duel between Soviet Union and USA was involved.
In this time manned spaceflight was used mainly for propagandistic and military purposes.
After the Cold War at the beginning of the Shuttle Missions the manned spaceflight was changed for expensive prestige projects devoid of consideration financial aspect.
For example the moon missions. Nowadays the manned spaceflight are global projects. Every spaceflight nation aided shared projects like example the space platform ISS.
The manned spaceflight is dangerous, expensive and not effective. Often manned spaceflight projects replace advantageous scientific projects
. It would make more sense to start further projects like projects to protecting the environment for all the world's inhabitants.
Warning systems for earthquake, tsunami, volcanic outburst are more important than missions to the Moon or the Mars.
Moon or Mars Missions are very dangerous and costly. They are irrelevant if you regard the cost-benefit calculation.
Very often the medical advantage of the manned spaceflight is underline.
Of course there are some inventions which are useful for human kind but the biggest part of the medical scientific is only useful for the manned spaceflight itselves.
Also it is probably that inventions like the safety belt was invented without spaceflight projects.
The opinion of proponents is that only astronauts can repair satellite or stuff like this in space.
But they forget that the costs for repair with astronouts in space is much more expensive than construct a new one on earth.
In the last few years the development in robotic technology is very fast. Nowadays it is possible to realise most of scientific experiments and repairs by robots.
Today every comercial projects like meteorological satellite or navigation system are unmannded.
I can imagine that in future scientific space projects will realise mainly unmannded.
Manned spaceflight will force through naturally in space tourism. Today a few companies are working consequently on that assembly.
If you have enough money you can buy a ticket at this time. In my opinion the space tourism will grow up in the next years.
In further future it would be normal to spend their holidays in space.
Although Mr.Obama want to conquer the Mars in 2030 I cant´t belive that projects like this would be implement in the next years because of the vast cost and risk.

Isn't there always a "the" before "Soviet Union" and "USA" (thus "the USA")?
(I don't know it, therefore I ask.)

Yes, you are right because "the" is used in names with "Republic" "Kingdom" States" etc.
