Historically three language groups have been living in South Tyrol; German, Italian and Ladin people. Today the Autonomous Province South Tyrol is regarded as a successful case, how the minority problems could be resolved. The language politics in South Tyrol experienced, however, a hard seesaw under the respective rules.
The School history of South Tyrol started with the occupation by Italia 1918 and the following annexation. It is the History of the tension-full dispute of German people against Italian over the school lessons by their mother tongue. The Italian Fascism suppressed the conflict with power und forbade German in public, until its collapse. The German National Socialism brought the re-establishment of the lessons by German language, but subjugated the lessons to the totalitarian law. Institution and Extension of a school system for the linguistic minorities within the bounds of the Italian school rules after 1945 referred to the principals of democracy and protection of minorities, but it has taken nearly 50 years until the realization of the extensive autonomy of today.
The present paper is an attempt to focus on the process preserving the mother tongue and the identity of an ethnic minority in a national state, while the changes of the language politics of South Tyrol until the end of the Would War II are explained.

Das machen wir doch gerne, aber in diesem Fall ist es nötig, dass Du auch Deinen deutschen Ausgangstext dazuschreibst, damit wir genau erkennen, was Du aussagen wolltest. Insgesamt ist der Text verständlich, hat aber Fehler - die wir verbessern werden - und die Sätze sind viel zu lang. Die englische Sprache liebt keine Schachtelsätze! Also stelle die deutsche Fassung ein. Und ach ja, eine Bitte: Da hier auch Ausländer ihr Deutsch verbessern wollen, achte bitte auch auf die deutsche Rechtschreibung, ja?

Ohweh, das ist ja recht grünlich. Ich denke, es geht Dir nicht um eine wörtliche Übersetzung und hoffe, ich habe einigermaßen idiomatisches Englisch getroffen. Allerdings würde ich auch den deutschen Text noch einmal kritisch durchsehen, da stimmt auch das eine oder andere nicht! Aber ich will Dich nicht verärgern. At this time its school history began; a history of strained disputes between the speakers of German and those of Italian about the question in which language school lessons should be held / oder: of lessons in the respective mother tongues.

Entschuldige bitte, aber dieser Satz geht nun wirklich gar nicht mehr, auch im Deutschen nicht. Im Englischen musst Du die Sätze ja sowieso kürzen und ent-komplizieren. Ich drösel das auch mal auf.

hallo ja ich weiss, der deutsche text ist nicht überarbeitet, sondern mehr ein erweitertes brainstorming gewesen, der schnell zusammengesetzt wurde. werde nächste mal verlässlich auf ein korrektes deutsch achten.
