warum steht der Satz

"I'm really sorry that I forgot to return your key!"

eigentlich nicht im Present Perfect? Schliesslich ist das "sorry" doch auf das Vergessen der Schluesselrueckgabe bezogen. Somit hat es doch noch auswirkung auf die Gegenwart.

Du hast Recht mit der Frage und Du siehst auch, dass die Korrektur nicht in Rot gemacht ist, nicht?

Ich habe da geraten, dass Chloe mittlerweile den Schlüssel abgeschickt haben wird, damit er seinem Besitzer bald wieder zur Verfügung steht. Damit ist die gesamte Handlung ja jetzt abgeschlossen und sie entschuldigt sich im Nachhinein noch einmal dafür.

Aber theoretisch könnte es auch sein, dass der Gastgeber von nun an nur noch vor seinem Haus kampieren muss, weil Chloe den Schlüssel nicht zurückgegeben hat und es auch nicht tun wird. Dann würde sie sich im Present Perfect entschuldigen. Denn dann würde das Resultat aus "have forgotten to return your key" ja noch vorliegen: der Eigentümer hat keinen Schlüssel.

Oh! Es ist mein Fehler Ich hätte deutlicher schreiben sollen.

Ich habe diesen Brief mit dem Schlüssel verschickt. Wäre es besser gewesen, wenn ich Present Perfect benutzt hätte? "I'm really sorry that I've forgotten to return your key!" Und was ist denn mit dem nächsten Satz? Könnte er in Past Simple sein oder auch besser in Present Perfect?
