Gibt es einen Bedeutungsunterschied zwischen "whatever" und "whatsoever"?

Mmh.. ich weiss nicht, ob ich deine Frage richtig verstanden habe?

Whatsoever heisst "was auch immer" oder je nach Kontext auch "ueberhaupt" . Beispiel: This attitude serves no purpose whatsoever = Diese Einstellung hat ueberhaupt keinen Zweck.

Whatever heisst "egal welche".

Have you tried to use google? No offense please but I found several pages with some information.

As usual - and I think most users of the forum would agree with me - the context of your usage is very important.

To me "whatever" sounds a bit less enthusiastic especially in certain situations:

Teacher: "You need to read this now"
Pupil: "Whatever".

"Whatever" can be used as a single word but it is not interpret in a positive way.

I read that the word "whatsoever" is a bit old-fashioned. I cannot agree on that.
Perhaphs Keswick or Duckduck are able to answer this statement.

No offense Alex, but if I asked my pupil to read a certain book and they answered "whatever", there'd be hell on! That's an incredibly rude thing to reply to a question.
