schools britain-germany/austria

Beitrag von ibex »

Would it be possible for an average German/Austrian student, if he moved to Britain, to go to school there normally? Aren't there huge differences in the curriculum? Would he has to go to another Year, because school starts later here? And is it possible to study a year abroad? Is this accepted as (for example) the 9th schoolyear? And how well should one be able to speak English? B1, B2, C1, C2?

Not that I really plan to move, I'm just interested in.

Yes, there are differences in the school system and your parents will need to decide
where you want to finish your school education.
I think, returning to the German school system might be harder than you expect.

You'll surely need to be accompanied by a parent or caretaker.
Remember, your parents are responsible for your well-being until you are of a certain age.
With their permission a guest family might be allowed to take over some of this responsibility.

I guess, studying at university is less complicated
but it requires you to pass an English test (IELTS) with a score depending on the faculty regulations.

OK. Thanks, nice that you answered!
Do you know where I can find the curriculums of the normal compulsory school? I didn't find any.

Cheers,
