Brauche Beispielsätze für in, at, on

Hallo,
als erstes hoffe ich, dass es so einen Thread noch nicht gibt und auch nicht als Spam oder sonstiges gesehen wird.

Wie schon im Subject erwähnt, brauche ich 3 Beispielsätze die ich mir einprägen kann für die korrekte Verwendung dieser 3 Wörter. Das Problem ist eigentlich, das ich bis heute nicht weiss ob es zum Beispiel "You can read it in my profile." oder "You can read it on my profile." heisst.

Das Wort "at" habe ich mir eigentlich so eingeprägt, dass es nur an Orten verwendet wird zum Beispiel "He is at the cafe." oder "They are at the cinema". Auch hier bin ich mir nicht sicher.

Ehrlich gesagt weiss ich nicht, wie ich mich ausdrücken soll. Ich hoffe ihr versteht meine Frage.

Dann hätte ich noch eine kleine Frage. In englischen Chats ist mir oft aufgefallen, dass Leute "I was at dad's." schreiben. Wäre "I was at dad." falsch? Auch hier würde ich mich über eine Erklärung freuen.

I do understand you. Quite a few German have got problems with the correct usage of preposition. The problem is the translation from German into English. But as you said you can remind yourself with examples.

Sure, the preposition "at" is often used with statements of place.
But keep in mind:

He had breakfast at eleven.
Cats hunt at night.

In this case, the preposition "at" is also used in tenses.
I suppose you know that - it does not exist a strict rule which could help you for the correct usage of prepositions.

Dann hätte ich noch eine kleine Frage. In englischen Chats ist mir oft aufgefallen, dass Leute "I was at dad's." schreiben. Wäre "I was at dad." falsch? Auch hier würde ich mich über eine Erklärung freuen.

I assume it has to be " I was at dad's".
The genitive " 's " is hugely useful.
You can also say:

" I was at dad's house."

The word "house" can leave out. Nevertheless the " 's " is possessive for the statement of place (house).

I am almost surely that it is false to say: " I was at dad.

I do understand you. (Kleiner Tipp: in einem Aussagesatz ist das "do", wie Du es hier verwendest, nicht immer in Ordnung. Es handelt sich um das "emphatische do". Aber benutze es nicht zu häufig, es war mir schon irgendwo mal bei Dir aufgefallen, wo es falsch war. Hier ist es OK, weil man es auf Plexters "Hilferuf" beziehen kann, dann ist es gerechtfertigt.)

I assume it has to be " I was at dad's".
The genitive " 's " is hugely useful. (Was meinst Du hier, dass er nützlich ist? Wofür?) Aber Deine folgende Erklärung stimmt haargenau! )
You can also say:

" I was at dad's house."

The word "house" can be left out. Nevertheless the " 's " remains.
I am almost sure(ly) that it is false to say: " I was at dad." (Right you are, it isn't correct. But neither is the adverb after a linking verb! )
