Un programmes´effectivness and their world matters
The United Nations, which was established on 24.10. 1945 and which has a membership of 191 countries, has many programmes. Parts of the whole organization which each combats one of the mainproblems of our world. The question is how effetiv they are and if they meet the requirements.
The UN has for purposes, to maintain international peace and security, to develop friendly relations among countries, to cooperate in solving international problems and in promoting respect for human rights and to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations. To achieve their aims the UN had founded the UN Progammes. The main programmes are the UN Volunteers (UNV), the UN refugee agency ( UNHCR), the UN Mine Action(UNMA), the UN programme on AIDS/HIV (UNAIDS) and the UN World Food Programme (WFP). To work out the effetivness, one has to know what each programme does. I selected the UNV, the UNHCR and the WFP.
Firstly the UN Volunteers. This programme tackles on developing challenges and fights for peace and development all over the world. To emphasize is that 80 per cent of the volunteers are from poor Third World Countries and especially these countries need help. The motto of the UNV is "Volunteerism for peace and development". So the UN Volunteers is spread around the world to provide people in situations of war and poverty and to fight for their human rights.
In the following i would lie to check up the UNHCR. The tas o the UN refugee agency is to resolve the refugee problems world wide, to stand up for their human rights and well being and to assist them for a restart for their lifes. They help in 120 countries among them Europe, Asia and Africa. All in all their aims are commendable but it is a difficult and heavy to solve problem which needs the assistance of the country where they are and the assistance of their homelands or the county where they want to live. Therefore this agency can not solve the mainproblems of refugees. they can only help them for a better live in refugee camps.
Last but not least the World Food Programme, which is a programme for saving lifes by getting food to poor and really needies. In addition they help also HIV carriers. To fullfil their tasks the WFP provide the deserving poor with rice, healthy food and kids with schools meals. They try to combat one of the most important problem of pur modern world and they do their best to improve the lifes of the needies.
In regard to all positiv and negativ arguments I hold the view that the UN programmes are for the most part good entrepreneuial initiative and I feel confident that these programmes can change something for the people who need really help!
