Is it correct the use of "instead" in the following sentence:
In the three-dimensional stationary problem, the diffusion tensor depends on all particle positions, instead in the two-dimensional problem, the diffusion tensor depend on the relative distance of each particle but not on the position of the other particle. In confinement, the dependence on the distance is instead of for the bulk system.

Ich schlage jetzt mal "wohingegen = whereas" vor. Aber im zweiten Fall habe ich gar keine Ahnung, was Du sagen willst. Nur soviel ist klar, das "instead" ist in beiden Fällen nicht richtig. Melde Dich noch mal mit mehr Informationen, ja?

Thank you. You are right about the first case. For the second case I forgot to put something, maybe with that the use is correct (instead = stattdessen).

the sentences look good now. But in the second sentence you could use "as opposed to" if you wanted to. So the sentence would read:
"In confinement, the dependence on the distance is 1/r^2 as oppposed to 1/r for/in?? the bulk system."
Sorry I wrote in German yesterday, I didn't realize that you aren't a speaker of German. But obviously you understood my question anyway.
As I said before, it's not easy to correct a sentence when you haven't got the slightest idea of what it is supposed to mean.
