Schauburg to Martin Luther Church


The Martin Luther Church was built by Ernst Giese and Paul Weidner 1883-1887. The church is 54 meters long, 27 meters wide and has a tower height of 81 meters.
The church is located on the 1879 Martin-Luther-Platz.
The Martin-Luther-Kirche, is one of the few churches in Dresden that have survived the bombing during the Second World War unscathed.
The indoor has about 1,400 seats and two large round windows on the side.
My way is from the Schauburg at Bischofsweg to the Martin Luther Church.
At first you have to go right straight on the Bischofsweg towards the Alaunpark, it’s a big green park.
If you are on the Alaunpark you go on the opposite and turn right into the Alaunstraße. This is the second road from the Schauburg.
Now you go straight on and take the first turning on the left. side. the Sebnitzerstraße until the crossroad and there you turn right into the Görlitzerstraße.
Now you go to the traffic lights at the corner and cross it and then turn left into Louissenstr.
Now go Straight on until the next turning on the right side,into the Martin-Luther street and now you Follow this little streer until you get to the church on the ride side on the Martin-Luther Platz.

Die Martin Luther Kirche wurde von Ernst Giese und Paul Weidner zwischen 1883 und 1887 errichtet. Die Kirche ist 54 Meter lang, 27 Meter breit und hat eine Turmhöhe von 81 Meter
Die Kirche liegt auf dem ab 1879 errichteten Martin-Luther-Platz inmitten zahlreicher Gründerzeithäuser.
Die Martin-Luther-Kirche Dresden ist eine der wenigen Kirchen in Dresden, die die Bombenangriffe im Zuge des zweiten Weltkrieges unbeschadet überstanden haben. Kirche im deswegen ist das Innere weitgehend erhalten.
Der Innenraum hat ca. 1400 Sitzplätzen und zwei großen seitliche Rundfenster

Von der Schauburg am Bischofsweg geht man geradeaus dem Bischofsweg entlang bis zum Alaunpark.
Am Alaunpark biegt man rechts in die Alaunstraße ein. Geht geradeaus und biegt in die erste Straße, in die Sebnitzerstraße, links ein läuft bis zur Kreuzung und biegt dann rechts ab in die Görlitzerstraße.
Nun geht man bis zur Ampel und überquert diese und biegt dann links in die Louisenstraße ab.
Nun läuft man immer geradeaus bis rechts eine kleine Straße kommt die Martin-Luther-Straße diese biegt man links ein und läuft geradeaus weiter, wenn man dies tut kommt man am Martin-Luther-Platz mit der Martin-Luther Kirche an.

The church is located between numerous Wilhelminian style houses on the Martin-Luther-Platz which was built in 1879.
The Martin-Luther-Kirche, is one of the few churches in Dresden that have survived the bombing during the Second World War unscathed.
The inside (of the church) has about 1,400 seats and two large round windows on each side.

My way is from the Schauburg at Bischofsweg to the Martin Luther Church.
First you have to follow the Bischofsweg towards the Alaunpark. It’s a big green park.
When you reach the Alaunpark turn right into the Alaunstraße. It is the second side street when coming from the Schauburg.
Now you go straight on and take the first turning on the left side into the Sebnitzerstraße. Follow it until you reach the crossroad and there you turn right into the Görlitzerstraße.
Now you go to the traffic lights at the corner and cross over and then turn left into Louissenstrasse.
Now go straight on until the next turning on the right side into the Martin-Luther Strasse and now you follow this small street until you get to the church on the ride side on the Martin-Luther Platz.

Du hast in deinem ersten Absatz einen ganzen Satzteil weggelassen. Pass auf, dass die das bei Uebersetzungen nicht passiert.

Wasn't that a bit pointless correcting this text twice? Especially when there are so many unanswered posts.Or is this some sort of competition Who can do it the best? Please explain because I don't quite understand.

As you can see, Caro64, my version is a) different from yours and b) you did not pick up the mistake the poster made in the first paragraph. His task was a translation and missing out a part of a sentence is certainly a mistake.

We don't have any competitions going on here, just different opinions and ways of correcting posts. And since this is a free forum, everybody has the right to share their opinion.

No offense, but that's the way we do it, and have done it for quite some time .

I agree, it's not a competition here. We are a happy little community.

I think, it's good that we (the people who try to improve our English skills)
have the rare opportunity to see different versions to express something.
Using a foreign language is not like math where only one result is correct.

As you can see in the signature of Keswick one could use different colours
to distinguish between corrected mistakes and changed or improved expressions.

Btw. I'm especially grateful that Keswick and Duckduck take the time to read my replies,
correct my mistakes where necessary and provide some hints where they see fit.
So I'd be happy if you join us by keeping an eye on each others work,
because we are human after all and prone to make little mistakes.

Furthermore, as a native speaker you can share with us some insight
that most of the users of this forum will simply never have,
because our skills are on a much lower level than you or the two former mentioned users.

Sounds good to me, I just have a problem with the markings of the corrections/expressions and the rest of the colourful bunch.It takes me ages and then it's still not perfect ,I have to hunt around and compare texts to find out just what I've changed or added.It would probably be easier if the changes made, would show up straight away and not all those funny brackets and words (which puts me right off) do you get what I'm on about? Or does this make me sound thick? I suppose it's all a question of practise,what I don't have yet. I shall definetly stick around, watch, learn and help where I can.Keep up the good work guys.

Hi Caro,

I do understand where you're coming from but I am not sure whether such a coloration system (hah I think I have just invented a new word) can be realised in a forum like this. The question is how the forum software is supposed to recognise corrections as such? Or rather, it should be possible to give a text a certain colour without the brackets. There are forums that have this feature which is quite handy. Maybe our technical support can help here?

I'll post something in the tech section. Thanks, Caro, for bringing up the idea .
