I have to give a presentation next weak. I want to speak about football and economy. I want to consider this topic critically.

Can you tell me if following statements are correct:
- large profit by merchandising and sponsoring
- football creates jobs
- selling naming rights of English football leagues
- selling stadium naming rights
- foreign investors in premier league

In German:
- hohe Einnahmen der Vereine durch Merchandising und Sponsoren
- Fußball schafft Arbeitplätze
- Namensrechte der 1. und 2. Liga in England wurden verkauft
- Stadionnamen wurden verkauft
- Ausländische Investoren kaufen Vereine in der Premier League auf

These are only short statements on the presentation slides.

Now I have to think about things I want to say. I hope you can help me.

At the end I want to give a result, like:
Der Fußball rückt immer mehr in den Hintergrund und das Geld und Event steht im Vordergrund. Mögliche Folgen könnten sein:
- reine Sitzplatzstadien auch in Deutschland
- weitere Zerstückelung der Anstoßzeiten um globale Märkte zu erschließen (z.B. Asien)

Du uebersetzt einige deiner deutschen Saetze unvollstaendig. Achte darauf, sonst ergeben deine englischen Statements keinen Sinn.

Wie wuerdest du denn die moeglichen Folgen uebersetzen? Versuche es doch mal .

The fascination football becomes less important and the event football and the money-making football becomes more and more important.
The German Bundesliga could make more money with all-seater stadiums and more VIP boxes. More different match times to be attractive for global markets (e.g. Asia).


Das mit Vordergrund und Hintergrund kann ich nicht so ins Englische übersetzen. Deshalb habe ich es mit "weniger wichtig" probiert. Allerdings hört sich der Satz nicht so schön an. Mit den anderen Sätzen bin ich vom Sinn her einverstanden.

Das mit Vordergrund und Hintergrund kann ich nicht so ins Englische übersetzen. Deshalb habe ich es mit "weniger wichtig" probiert. Allerdings hört sich der Satz nicht so schön an. Mit den anderen Sätzen bin ich vom Sinn her einverstanden.

Es könnte mit "eclipse" gehen:
The event football and the money that can be made with football eclipse the pure game football.

Ich habe nur die Befürchtung, dass dann die Wirkung der Aussage verloren geht. "Become less important" wird wohl eher verstanden als "eclipse sth."

Mit all-seater-stadium meinte ich reine Sitzplatzstadien, wie es in England üblich ist. In Deutschland gibt es ja noch Steplätze. Dieses Wort wurde einem Artikel entnommen.

Ansonsten habe ich mir Gedanken gemacht, was ich erzählen möchte. Da es mündlich ist, soll es nicht klingen wie ein Comment
The Football World Cup 2010 in South Africa shows that many people are interested in football. Nobody can escape from this event. Football is everywhere, like in newspapers, on TV or on the internet. This is the reason why many companies find football very attractive and want to become official sponsors of the world cup or of national clubs of the German Bundesliga or England Premiership.

Football clubs use professional marketing structures, too. Almost every football club has a professional merchandising deparment and many fanshops. Supporters can buy scarves, flags and home or away jerseys. Nearly every club changes his home or away jerseys at the beginning of the new season. They want to maximize their profits and the club supporters have to pay for it. Hence the football club earn a lot of money every year with merchandising(besser wäre Fanartikel). Another point is sponsoring. Nearly every team has a main sponsor which pay a lot of money, too.

A positive thing is, that football creates many jobs. More than 15000 pubs have a SKY Sports Bar license in Germany. At the weekend watch more than 235000 people live matches in sportbars. Sports Bars show all matches of the German Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League live. Of course the pubs and bars need a lot of stuff and in this case football creates jobs. Another point is the World Cup again. For the Fifa World Cup in South Africa they have built some new stadiums and they have develop the infrastructure (e.g. they built new roads, hospitals, hotels, etc.).
Moreover Adidas and other sporting goods manufactorer like Nike, Puma or Umbro were not so successfull without football. More than 35% of sold goods results from football. Hier würde ich lieber sagen, dass mindestens 35% der verkauften Sportartikel in Zusammenhang mit Fußball stehen. Wäre der Fußball nicht da, wäre der Umsatz bei Sportartikelhersteller viel niedriger.
