“How do you feel about environmental issues?”
First of all, I have to say, that I had to think about this question very much before I was able to give a responsible answer. After due consideration, I decided to start with the problem of global warming coming up in the recent years. You hear a whole lot of things about global warming, especially in the media but nobody really knows how dangerous it is for us, in fact. Even the scientists are not quite certain. They can often only speculate which amount of damage the global warming will bring the world and not only the world, but also and particular us, the human beings. But, in my eyes, even if we cannot be sure how deep the CO2 emission affects our world’s climate, I think, the reduced using of cars would not be wrong. Of course, going by bike can be a difficult change for some people, but I, myself, can say that you often feel much better after not going by car but using your bike. Back to the problem of global warming itself: If this so-called “greenhouse effect” goes on which would cause the earth’s atmosphere to heat up by 5°C within the next 100 years we will have big problems. The polar ice caps will melt and this will affect a rise of the water levels in the oceans so that we all are going to swim in the water of the big oceans, to say it in a friendly way.
According to that, the terrifying increase of the hole in the ozone layer will permanently end up in many problems. The ozone layer in the upper atmosphere acts as an ultraviolet radiation filter which is not quite unimportant for us. Because the missing of this particular filter would cause many diseases like skin cancer and eye diseases in humans. So, once again, let us not just stand there and shout, for example at the media for annoying us with these issues, let us do something about it.
Referred to the media, I think, there are quite a few more factors not mentioned who damage the worlds environment seriously, too. Just look at acid rain. It cannot be seen but its effects, its destruction is just huge. It pollutes the lakes, so that the fishes swimming in these waters will become diseased, will die. Moreover it destroys the forest, which is indeed a big problem, because the trees are very important for the reduction of CO2.
The long and short of it is that there are many problems with the environment that will come up or already exist. So: Let us not just see what the future will bring us or not, let us act to make it better, now.

Nun, da rufe ich Dir doch ganz ergriffen ein Yes, we can! zu.olladeluxe hat geschrieben: “How do you feel about environmental issues?”

Of course, going by bike can be a difficult change for some people, but I, myself, can say that you often feel much better after using your bike.
Let us return to the problem of global warming itself: If this so-called “greenhouse effect” goes on, which would cause the earth’s atmosphere to heat up by 5°C within the next 100 years, we will have to face serious problems. The polar ice caps will melt and this will cause a rise of the water levels in the oceans. There is the risk that sooner or later people will have to leave certain coastal areas or else "swim to their homes".
On top of that, the alarming stratospheric ozone depletion will eventually lead to many problems. The ozone layer in the upper atmosphere acts as a filter against the ultraviolet radiation. This is very important for us. Because the loss of this particular filter would cause many diseases like skin cancer and eye diseases.
So, once again, let us not just stand there and shout, for example at the media for annoying us with these issues, let us do something about them!
But talking about the media, I think, there are quite a few more factors not mentioned there, which seriously damage the environment.
Just look at acid rain. It cannot be seen but its effects, its destruction is simply huge. It pollutes the lakes, so that the fishes fall ill and die. Moreover, it destroys the forests, which is indeed a big problem, because the trees are very important for the reduction of CO2.
The long and short of it is that there are many problems with the environment that will come up in the near future or already exist.

Toll gemacht, guter Inhalt!

How do you feel about environmental issues?”

@Delfino,
"What do you feel about..." wird durchaus mit "was hältst Du von.../ wie stehst Du zu...")
