Sharia Law

Beitrag von andy55 »

Ich muss eine kurze Zusammenfassung zu einen Text über das Sharia Gesetz schreiben.

Here is my summary to this theme.
Lubna Hussein, a Sudanese journalist travelled to France and she spoke at a press conference.
She promoted her new book which is called: "Forty Lashes for of Pair of Trousers"
The publication perceives with the Sharia law.
A girl in the age of 16 was arrested. Her offence was the wearing of slacks in the publicity.
The sentence culminated in 40 lashes and Lubna Hussein accused the Sudanese government of misrepresenting the Islam.
But the girl is not a individual case because more than 40.000 women were arrested last in similar cases according to the France foreign minister

Thanks for your answers.

We got to this topic, some questions. I would ask you to correct my answers.

a) Lubna Hussein says that "nothing in the Koran justifies punishing women for their dress". What do you think about this argument?
b) Should there be laws regulating what people are allowed to or have to wear? If so, which rules should there be and who should decide about them?

a.) For me, it is essential that women have their own free decision, what ever they want to wear.
b.) I think it is a difficult question. On one hand laws regulates many areas of society. And this is without doubt important and necessary for the relation between us. But if clothing regulations are really necessary that is a different kettle of fish. On the other hand, is wearing of a Burka, misogynistic or even discriminating? Lawyers fear that wearing of a face cover with eye openings could be used for commit crimes. But how many people wear the Burka, for example in Vienna? Is it really necessary to create a special law to regulations of clothing? In France there is effort going on right a discussion to this theme. Is the wearing of a Burka an expression of the religious freedom or discriminating? And who decides this?
