Summary - Is your pet bad for the environment?

Beitrag von Laubfrosch »

Hallo,

The article „Is your pet bad for the environment?“ written by Moya Irvine is about the impact which pets have on the environment.

To calculate the ecological footprint of cats and dogs two scientists from New Zealand done research and found out that pets and cats produce the same or even bigger emissions like cars or plasma televisions.
First they worked out how much meat and cereals dogs and cats eats per year. Furthermore they figured out how much land is necessary to produce this food. Together with the dog and cat population in the UK they calculated how much every dog and cat pollute the environment. The pollution is so big because the producing of meat for the pets causes these much emissions. They are only using the meat that would be thrown away for the pet food say the representatives of the companies to justify their business policy.
Moreover the research resulted that the birds which were killed by cats and also the excrement of dogs burden the environment a lot.
Vielen Dank schonmal!!

The article „Is your pet bad for the environment?“ written by Moya Irvine is about the impact which pets have on the environment.

Through calculating the ecological footprint of cats and dogs, two research scientists from New Zealand found out that pets and cats produce just as much or even more harmful emissions as cars or plasma televisions.
First they worked out how much meat and cereals dogs and cats need per year. Furthermore they figured out how much land is necessary to produce this food. They also calculated the level of the environmental pollution occurred by every dog and cat including those of the UK’s population. It is the production of meat for the pets that causes such a high level of harmful emissions. They only use the meat for the pet food that is thrown away say the representatives of the companies to justify their business policy.
Moreover, the research resulted in the fact that the birds which are killed by cats and also the excrement of dogs burden the environment a lot.

Do you want to apply for work with the yellow press?
... pets and cats produce just as much or even more harmful emissions as cars or plasma televisions.
...It is the production of meat for the pets that causes such a high level of harmful emissions.
It seems the way pet food is produced is the real source of the emissions - not the pet, right? :jo:

...every dog and cat including those of the UK’s population.
I didn't notice anything special about the dogs and cats here in the UK.
Maybe they are not so special after all. :denk:

... the birds which are killed by cats ... burden the environment a lot.
Yes, the birds emit so much bad stuff in their life and now their dead body continues to emit stuff.
Do they really think all those emissions are the cats fault?

How many birds are killed by cats?
How much of a burden is a dead cat?

Just a few thoughts that crossed my mind. No hard feelings...

Hallo Delfino
