Bitte um Korrektur

Hallo zusammen,

Christmas is a familyday in England, which lasts three days.
The 24th December is the day of preparation for the next day.
If the preparations (food, decorating, gifts) are finished, the family goes to church. This is usually a midnight mass.
The walls in the apartments are always decorated with colorful ribbons and evergreen boughs.
The British put their Christmas tree already at a very early stage. The British send each other many Christmas cards.
These are hung on lines across the living room or by the fireplace.

On the hearth the milk and cookies for Santa Claus. On 25 December early in the morning the children are allowed, still in pajamas unwrap (unbox?) the presents.
English is considered important for all the talk of the Queen on TV.
They eat stuffed turkey and then the famous plum pudding doused with rum and set alight.
In the Christmas cake, they hide a coin. Whoever finds it, gets a wish fulfilled.

Typical for Christmas with the British is the mistletoe. It hangs above the door.
Meet under the mistletoe, a boy and a girl, it is expected that they kiss.
The 26th December is the "boxing day".
Shops are on and it can be exchanged for gifts, what the English do on that day.

MFG GUESS :)

Christmas is a Christian holiday that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. As in many countries throughout the world, it is considered the most important date for familiy gatherings and celebrations in England. The holiday season lasts three days.
The 24th December (Christmas Eve) is the day of preparation for the next day.
When the preparations (food, decorating, gifts) are finished, the family goes to church, usually to the midnight mass.
The traditional Christmas decorations are colourful and festive:
The walls are decorated with ribbons and evergreen boughs and the Christmas tree (a tradition introduced to England by Queen Victoria's husband Albert) is put up at a very early stage. The British send each other many Christmas cards. These are hung on lines across the living room or by the fireplace.

On the mantlepiece sit the milk and cookies for Santa Claus, who is said to enter the house through the chimney.
In the early morning of 25 December (Christmas Day) the children, still in their pajamas, are allowed to unwrap their presents.
For many English people, listening to the Queen's Christmas Speech is considered to be an important tradition.

As far as food is concerned, the traditional meal is the stuffed turkey and the famous plum pudding doused with rum and set alight for afters.
Many people hide a coin in the Christmas cake, and whoever finds it can make a wish.

The mistletoe is another typically British tradition. It hangs above the door and when a boy and a girl should meet beneath it, they are expected to kiss each other.

The 26th December is Boxing Day. The origin of the name is not clear, maybe it got its name from the custom to give the servants their present in boxes on this day. Another possible explanation is that the needy were given a little of the money which had been collected in boxes in the church on Christmas.
Shops are open and gifts, that are not wanted, can be exchanged, another English tradition, it would seem.

MFG GUESS :)
