Peer Pressure
Peer Pressure is happen in groups, which exists a dictatorship. A leader particular and the other people of this Group join it. The other people approve of the leader's decision because if they disapproved, they would not be accepted.
That’s funny, because members of one Group are often Friends or they have the same aims, isn’t it?
Why aren’t the members, who have an own opinion, accepted?
It exist different reasons:
- For Example a missing information: If you haven’t an own opinion, you’ll join the opinion of the majority. It’s like the people in our Workbook.
- An other reason for peer pressure can be a missing self-confident. You need the confirmation of other people.
- A third reason: Many people are scared about being alone. They think: If I have an own opinion and nobody are the same opinion I’ll be alone. So they accept the opinion of the group leader.
All in all I think Peer Pressure could be avoidable if the dictator is more tolerant and the suppressten (Unterdrückten) is more courageous.

Peer pressure occurs in groups, in which a kind of dictatorship exists. There is one particular leader and the other people of this group join it (was, die Gruppe? oder schließen sich ihm an?, dann wäre es him.). The other people approve of the leader's decisions (Hihi, hatte ich ohne den Kontext nicht richtig übersetzt) because if they disapproved, they would not be accepted.
That’s strange (strange = komisch = seltsam, funny = lustig, zum Lachen) because members of one group are often friends or they have a lot in common.
Why are the members who have their own, personal opinions not accepted?
There are different reasons:
- For exampleamissing information: If you haven’t got an opinion of your own, you’ll support the opinion of the majority. It’s like the people in our workbook.
- Another reason for peer pressure can be a lack of self-confidence. You need the acknowledgement of other people.
- A third reason: Many people are scared of being alone. They think: If I have my own opinions and nobody else shares them, I’ll be alone. So they accept the opinion of the group leader.
All in all I think peer pressure could be avoided if the dictator were more tolerant and the oppressed were more courageous.
