Hallo,
ich habe das Problem das ich nie sicher bin, welche Teile des ursprünglichen Textes relevant sind für die Zusammenfassung.
Die summary sollte ja ca. 1/3 oder sogar weniger vom original Text sein.
Wäre super wenn mir mal jemand an diesem Beispiel sagen könnte was in die summary gehört und was unwichtig ist.

It was a common belief that Soviet soldiers could take a man out of his own car and ship him off to the Soviet Union as slave labor.
As a kid I saw the socialist country that Austria became after the Soviets left. I love Austria and I love the Austrian people — but I always knew America was the place for me. In school, when the teacher would talk about America, I would daydream about coming here. I would sit for hours watching American movies transfixed by my heroes like John Wayne. Everything about America seemed so big to me so open, so possible.

Welche Teile eines Textes fuer eine Zusammenfassung relevant sind, kann man nicht einfach allgemein fest machen. Du musst die Fakten des Textes er- und zusammenfassen.
Also im Fall deines Beispiel wuerde ich den Text lesen und anstreichen welche Dinge dir wichtig vorkommen. Das sind dann die Fakten, die du in deine Zusammenfassung bringen musst.

Sind wir mal ehrlich: in Arnies Reden ist wenig genug Inhalt, der sich zusammenfassen ließe, "at the best of times"...
Aber, wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe, LaurenW, bist Du nicht sicher, was von dem Bisschen nun wichtig ist. Keswick hat Dir den Weg gewiesen, ich stelle noch ein Schildchen auf:
1. Wo hält er die Rede
2. Warum ist das so besonders für ihn
3. Warum ist Amerika für ihn das Höchste (Erfahrung mit den Sowjets) (Eine Wertung ist in einer "summary" ja verboten, aber mir persönlich sträuben sich die Nackenhaare bei so viel heuchlerischem Nationalstolz.)
4. Einfluss amerikanischer Kultur auf den jungen Arnie
