Hallo,
ich bin im Moment einigermaßen verwirrt, weil ich dieses Wort gerne gebrauche aber manchmal unsicher bin an welcher Stelle es in einem Satz stehen muss.
Bspw. kenne ich aus einem Film folgende Phrase:
"It just isn´t."
Aus anderen Verwendungen kenne ich es so:
"It is just a problem"
Ich habe immer gedacht, dass das "just" im zweiten Satz vor dem "is" stehen muss, weil es an der Stelle ein vollwertiges Verb ist. Deswegen bin ich ein wenig verwirrt, da es im oberen Satz nun auch vor dem Verb steht, aber im unteren ja nicht.
Und weiterhin noch eine zweite Frage.
Ich habe vor kurzem diesen Satz geschrieben (im Englischunterricht):
"He was lying beneath the corpse, as he realized that the dead person was an old friend of him."
Dann kam dort eine Prüferin meines Lehrers vorbei (die ihn bewerten sollte, sich den Unterricht anschaute, usw.) und meinte es müsste "an old friend of his" heißen. Ich hab das zwar geändert, aber verstanden wo der Fehler lag habe ich es nicht. Weil es ist doch ein Freund von "ihm".

schau mal in diesem Fall (<- Stichwort):
She is an old friend of me/my -- falsch
She is an old friend of mine -- richrig
Also, Genitiv ist richtig. Somit: An old friend of mine/of yours/of (his/her/[even] its)/of ours/of yours/of theirs.

Und für Deine - sicher berechtigte - Frage nach der Stellung des "just" im Satz: Du hast ja gesehen, dass darauf niemand geantwortet hat. Ich selbst auch nicht, weil es einfach eine zu umfangreiche Geschichte ist, um sie hier nieder zu schreiben. Bitte schau im Netz und in einer guten Grammatik selbst nach. Alles richtig und prima erklärt, nur noch eine kleine Anmerkung: Possessivpronomen können entweder
attributiv gebraucht werden (also wie ein Adjektiv vor dem Substantiv)Bsp.: "He showed Ann his new bike." , oder
substantivisch (also alleinstehend).Bsp.: He showed Ann that new bike of his.
Während sie attributiv die allseits bekannten Formen haben:
my, your, his, her, its, our, your, their,
werden substantivisch andere Formen verwendet:
mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, yours, theirs.
