Past continuous/Past tense - korrekt verwendet ?

Hallo Leute,

ich hoffe, dass ihr mir mit der past continuous helfen könnt, ich musste einige Sätze schreiben, wo ich entweder das past continuous oder die past tense einsetzen musste... ich wäre euch dankbar, wenn sich jemand die Sätze anschauen könnte, der sich mit der past continuous richtig gut auskennt, es wäre nämlich wirklich dringend, da ich davon morgen einen Test hätte, ich bedanke mich schon im vorraus für eure Hilfe

Das wären die Sätze,

I woke up at 8.30 this morning, so I got to school really late.
Alex stopped playing football because it was raining and he got wet.
I was trying to decide what to buy for my sister´s birthday. But then I got an idea.
My teacher got angry because I didn´t do my homework.
Last week my father was getting a surprise. He won 1,000 Dollar in the lottery!

Sometimes my parents get angry when I don´tidy my bedroom.
Tim didn´t understand the Maths exercise and he got very confused.
I went for a walk on Sunday, but it started raining and I got very wet.
Our plane was late and we got home at 1 am.
You´re very wet. Come inside the house and get dry.
We were getting a surprise at school yesterday. Our teacher didn´t give us any homework!

Das wären mal die Sätze wo ich mir nicht ganz sicher bin, ob ich da die past continuous/past tense richtig verwendet habe, wäre schön, wenn sich jemand der sich mit dieser Grammatik auskennt, die Sätze mal überprüfen würde und mir sagen könnte, wo ich Fehler gemacht habe und mir vielleicht erklärt warum etwas falsch ist

Musst du hier ueberall "get" in die richtige Form setzen? Oder durftest du dir das Verb aussuchen? Falls du es dir aussuchen durftest, empfehle ich dir das Wort "get" nicht oefter zu verwenden als noetig. Es gibt bessere und passendere Verben.

Erst mal sorry für meine späte Antwort Ja ich musste überall "get" einsetzen, dürfte keine Verben in dieser Übung aussuchen, danke für die Hilfe du hast mir sehr geholfen.

Keswick, du besserst das "got angry" beim Lehrer aus und nimmst "became", lässt es aber bei den Eltern... Hatte das einen Grund oder wolltest du nur etwas Variation hineinbringen?

Welche besseren und passenderen Verben meinst du? Mir fällt da spontan nichts ein, ist aber auch noch früh am heutigen Tag.

Mein Grund war, Variation reinzubringen, denn ausschliesslich das Wort "get" zu verwenden ist a) uninteressant und b) deutet es in einem frei geschriebenen Text darauf hin, dass der Verfasser einfach keine anderen Worte kennt.

Um dir ein paar Ideen zu geben, welche anderen Worte ich verwenden wuerde, hier mal ein paar Beispiele:
