folgendes verwirrt mich total.

"...for example Alexander Graham Bell (who invented the telephone)..."

who invented the telephone soll bedeuten, er erfand das Telefon. Aber "who invented the telephone?" Bedeutet, wer erfand das telefon? Weil "did" sagt man ja nicht, weil man nach einem Subjekt fragen würden.

Müsste da nicht stehen "(He invented the telephone)"

Solche Sätze verwirren mich immer total

In dem Kontext heisst das in den Klammer (welcher das Telefon erfunden hat).
Das "who" ist hier ein Relativpronomen

Als Frage "who invented the telephone?" wird, wie du schon gesagt hast das who mit wer übersetzt.
