Grammatik Kontrolle

Beitrag von Deluxe89 »

Hi Leute

hoffe habe das richtige Forum getroffen

folgendes. Ich muss für die Schule ein kleines referat halten über ein Thema. Also nur mündlich.

Welcome everybody to my speech about Hurricane Katrina, who floods New Orleans. So it was a day as usual in the south oft he United States on the gulf of Mexico’s bay. Over the atlantic ocean, a new hurricane was formed and floats straight tot he eastern coast oft he United States and New Orleans. It wasn’t something special, because in this season a lot of hurricanes develop over the atlantic ocean. Because New Orleans is a very poor city – two-thirds of the population are black and more than a quarter live in poverty (Armut) – a lot of people had no car, sot hey couldn’t leave the city as Katrina approached.
After Katrina hit the eastern coast on August 29 2005, the lovely city New Orleans was burried under a stinking, destructive mass of water. It was like a set of a hollywood disaster movie. Bilder Buildings were flattened, trees ripped up and bodies floated in the water. Thousands of people became homeless. To receive themeselves, all this people crowded into the huge superdome football stadium. There was no gas, electricity or drinking water. But not enough. After the floods came the looting (Plünderungen). People broke into stores and steal everything. The Police was busy to deal with this looting-gangs. The Martial Law (Kriegsrecht) was declared.
Georg W. Bush broke off his holiday to view the damage. It would take years to recover New Orleans and the other cities. For many experts, New Orleans was a city waiting for a disaster, because much of the city lies several metres below the sea level and is surrounded on three sides by water. Lake Pontchartrain in the north and the gulf of mexico, one oft he world’s worst areas for hurricanes, in the south. Around the city, there are levees and floodwalls to protect New Orleans form flooding. But the leves were only built to withstand a category three storm. Kathrina was a category five storm over the ocean and a category four storm, when he hit the coast. So the levees broke down and the Mississippi floods into the streets. In factm the levees were a part oft h problem. The tamed (zähmen) the mississippi, but by preventing the floods, they caused Lousiana’s wetlands to disappear. Critics said, that the city needs money to improve the levees, but the government had refuse as it needed extra founding to fight terrorism and for the war in Iraq. So what could they do? Thousands trapped in terrible conditions in the superdome waited to receive. One man evacuated told the BBC: „The first few days were a natural disaster, the last four days were a man-made disaster.“
Ordinary Americans were quick to show their support for the victims (Opfer). Within just a few days, the Rec Cross had received more than $21 million in donations (Spende). Nicolas Cage for example donated $1 million. But also normal people helped the others. Theys pend food, clothes and more. Today, we can still see some consequences of the flood, but a lot became better.

Welcome everybody to my speech about Hurricane Katrina, who floods New Orleans. So it was a day as usual in the south of the United States at the gulf of Mexico’s bay. Over the atlantic ocean, a new hurricane was formed and floats straight to the eastern coast of the United States and New Orleans. It wasn’t something special, because in this season a lot of hurricanes developped over the atlantic ocean. Because New Orleans is a very poor city – two-thirds of the population are black and more than a quarter lives in poverty (Armut) – a lot of people had no car, so they couldn’t leave the city as Katrina approached.

Georg W. Bush broke off his holiday to view the damage. It would take years to recover New Orleans and the other cities, he said. For many experts, New Orleans was a city waiting for a disaster, because much of the city lays several metres below the sea level and is surrounded on three sides by water. Lake Pontchartrain in the north and the gulf of mexico, one oft he world’s worst areas for hurricanes, in the south and the east. Around the city, there are levees (Dämme oder auch Deiche) and floodwalls to protect New Orleans form flooding. But the levees were only built to withstand a category three storm. The problem was, that Kathrina was a category five storm over the ocean and a category four storm, when he hit the coast. So the levees broke down and the Mississippi floods into the streets. In fact the levees were a part of the problem. They tamed (zähmen) the mississippi, but by preventing the floods, they caused Lousiana’s wetlands to disappear. Critics said, that the city needs money to improve (verbessern) the levees, but the government had refuse as it needed extra founding to fight terrorism and for the war in Iraq. So what could they do? Thousands were trapped (gefangen) in terrible conditions in the superdome waited to receive. One man evacuated told the BBC: „The first few days were a natural disaster, the last four days were a man-made disaster.“
Ordinary Americans were quick to show their support for the victims (Opfer). Within just a few days, the Red Cross had received more than $21 million in donations (Spende). Nicolas Cage for example donated $1 million. But also « normal » people helped the victims. They spend food, clothes and more. Today, we can still see some consequences of the flood, but a lot became better.
