In the 1860s London had a problem, It was traffic. Crossing the River Thames was especially difficult. So, the City of London decided to build a new river crossing. The construction of the Tower Bridge began in 1886 and it was completed in 1894. But the architekt of the bridge never saw his work, because he died before it was complete. The bridge crosses the River Thames and it is the only moveable bridge of the 29 bridges on this river. It is also the most famous bridge in London and it is 244 meters wide and 65 meters tall. It takes its name from the Tower of London, which is next to the bridge. From the top of the towers you have a great view on the center of London.

Suggestion: The Tower Bridge - London´s most famous Bridge is known all around the world. The construction began in 1886 to solve the problem of London´s traffic situation during the 1860s. The city of London decided to built a new bridge to easen the crossing of the River Thames which posed the biggest problem then. Unfortunately, the architect of the bridge died before the cosntruction was finsihed in 1894, so he could never see his work. However, within just eight years there was a bridge created that is 244 meters long and 65 meters high. Moreover, it is the only moveable bridge of the 28 others crossing the River Thames named after the Tower of London right next to it. Standing on the top of the top of the tower you have a great view over the center of London.
