hi everyone!

i heard this sentence but i don't understand why here "with my computer" not "in my computer"? This sentence is: "I’ve had it with my computer. I lost another paper when I tried to save it on a disk."

Has anybody any idea?

Thanks a lot!

Maybe short for "I had the same problem with my computer"?

As far as I know, 'have had it' is an idiomatic phrase that is always used with 'with' as a preposition.

first, thanks for all the replies!

because the sentence is one of sentences in a short dialog, there's no more clues for explanation what "it" means. i guess "it" means "problem" is right. I got sometimes confused when something looks like idiomatic phrase, which might mean something else.

"I've had it with my computer" means "I am very upset with my computer" or "I am very angry with my computer" when used with "I lost another paper". The speaker is upset and is blaming the computer.

"I had it on my computer" would be something contained within the computer and might be used like this: "I had it on my computer but I lost it."

Cliff is mostly right: "to have had it with something" is used to indicate that one is upset with something. z.B. "I've had it with you" "I've had it with this company" "I've had it with this relationship" etc.
