Moin zusammen,
wäre schön wenn mir einer erklären könnte wann man "excuse" und wann man "apologize" benutzt.
Vielen dank im Voraus
Serge
wann "excuse" und wann "apologize"?

Using “excuse” might make you sound slightly more educated or cultured than using “apologize” but basically, you can use them in the same places (in the context of saying you are sorry).
Please excuse me for being late.
I apologize for being late.
I hope you’ll excuse my friend’s rude behavior; he’s had a very bad day.
I really apologize for my friend’s rude behavior.

an apology is when you say "sorry"
The secretary read out apologies for absence
an excuse ("s" as in "this") is the reason you give. It may not be true.
He made his excuses and left.
His excuse was that he missed his train.
to apologise
to say sorry
He apologised for forgetting her birthday.
to excuse ("s" as in "these")
to accept the apology
She said, "I'll excuse you this time!"
In England we say "sorry" all the time, as if we are sorry for breathing.
"Sorry" if you bump into someone or if you didn't hear.
