Dear Mr X,
I, X, do write this letter (to you) in order to explain/ define/ illustrate which/ the motive force/ motivation/ incentive/ motive which drove/ pushed me to the decision /made me decicde to spend the Winter Semester/ winterterm 200X/200X / a semester abroad in the context of the X exchange program/ during Winter Semester/ winterterm 200X/200X.
As the X University supports/ maintains/ provides a close-knit network of reputable universities all over the world it was clear to me, since the very beginning of my studies, that me too, I will use this opportunity to participate/ to take part in one of the numerous exchange programes offered by the X University/ want to benefit from ( participating in one of the numerous exchange programes offered by the X University this ) offer/ possibility.
/Since the very beginning of my studies ( of economics) at the X University it was clear to me that I will use the opportunity of participating in one of the university´s exchange programs and consequently/ accordingly will benefit from the close-knit network, the X University maintains with a great number of reputable universities all over the world.
I do regard the possibility to spend a semester at a reputable university abroad as a great opportunity to enlarge my personal and academic experiences/ to advance personally and academically/ develop further on a personal and acamemical level.

Searching for / Deciding on the appropriate university for my prospective study visit I supposed the university to meet certain criteria
As I am very interested in foreign cultures and foreign coutries, especially foreign languages and religions as two of the most significant chracteristic features of each culture, do effect an enormous fascination to me.
Due to the fact that I am very into foreign languages I really/absolutely wish/desire to speak the languages I used o study at school fluently one day. For this reason the partner university of my choice ought to offer a wide range of / multiplicity of lectures in the domain of business studies/ administration/ management/ economics read in English. At the best English should be used as an official language in the country I would choose ( for my stay) / the country I would choose should used English as an official language.
Furthermore the opportunity to go abroad for half a year and to get to know different ways of living/ lifestyles and to be faced to a value system which is different from the value system in our common Western world effects a enormous fascination to me/ provides an enormous attraction to me. And as I do deal with religions in my private domain I hope to get the opportunity to experience different religious practices during my time abroad.
Finally I decided to participate in the Xexchange program – more precisely I chose the National University of Singapore ( NUS) and the Nayang Technological University (NTU) which is also situated in Singapore as my favorite potential partner universities. Besides that I will apply for the Singapore Management University which is an exclusive partner university of the Business School of the X University. I am absolutely convinced that these universities meet the criterias I established and fulfill my desires /match my expectations concerning my prospective partner university to total satisfaction. At all these four universities situated in the Eastern and Southeastern Asian regions I would have the unique opportunity to experience a different cultural environment and at the same time to improve my language skills in English.
As Singapore is very much affected by the Western world and all of the possible prospective universities are oriented very internationally/ international oriented/ international operating a possible culture/ cultural shock will be missing/ stay away.

Furthermore you asked me to explain/ define/ illustrate my distinct/ outstanding interest in marketing / in what my distinct interest for marketing is based on. I consider marketing as one of the most interesting and above all one of the multi-faceted/ multifarious domains in the field of business studies/ administration/ management/ economics. For this reason I am also apt/ tended/ I intend to choose/ select marketing as one of my major fields of studies during my graduate studies / to focus on marketing during my graduate studies/ to depen my knowledge in marketing during my graduate studies.
As I perceive myself at the same time as a very emotional person and as a very rational person it´s particularly the versatile character what makes marketing so interesting to me. Most of my decisions are very deliberate and the way I´m trying to solve problems almost always follows a well thought-out logical reasoning .But as I do have a very distinct moral awareness, too, and as I am for example a very familie-oriented person I do never make important decisions without having thought about the consequences on the interpersonal relationships for example. Then on the one hand as a social science marketing is the field of economics in which more than in any other field of economics the human being is docused on/ located in the center of consideration/ observation. On the other hand marketing including for example strategic marketing, price management ,product managment et cetera is demanding accurate analytical tasks and rational reasoning.
I hope that with this letter I could help you to get an idea of my personality, the motive forces which makes me want to spend a semester abroad and the reason why I intend to choose/ select marketing as one of my major fields of studies during my graduate studies / to focus on marketing during my graduate studies/ to depen my knowledge in marketing during my graduate studies.
