• The Confederate States were 11 Southern States which splited up from the United States.
• The battle arose from a deep economic, social and political split between the northern states and southern states, based primarily on the slavery question
• The Union was led by Abraham Lincoln and the Confederacy by Jefferson Davis.
• The primary objective of Lincoln was the rebuilding of the Union and the slave liberation
• The civil war was not only one battle, there were many battles on different places and states
o The greatest battle was fought at Gettysburg
• The troop strengh was very different.
o The union had many more men available to fight, hence the Union won.
• All in all the civil war was the bloodiest conflict ever held on American ground.
