Hey all.

I know this is a forum for the english language but I was hoping that someone would help me out as I am having difficulty finding a native German speaker to help me with a small translation. My German is quite poor since I have not used it since childhood. I have some relatives coming in for a wedding in which I am the MC and I was hoping to send out a special greeting to them.

My relatives are from Bremen and I was hoping to find a regional appropriate greeting to use for them.

Essentially I would like to say: "Welcome to Canada. Thank you for celebrating with us on this special occasion." Is there a more appropriate translation or regional greeting that could be used here instead of the direct translation?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Rolf,

a translation for your sentence:

"Willkommen in Kanda. Danke, dass ihr diesen besonderen Anlass mit uns gemeinsam feiert."

If you think that this is too short or you need further support/translation write me an email (see profile)

Another appropriate sentence could be (on the quick and as a thank-you-letter):

"Als unsere Gäste habt Ihr sehr dazu beigetragen, dass unsere Hochzeit ein besonders
schönes Fest wurde. Dafür sowie für alle Glückwünsche und Geschenke sagen wir
herzlich DANKE."
