"Control" does not mean "Kontrolle" but "Steuerung, Lenkung, Regelung" and their appropriate verbs.
The German "Kontrolle" is "check" - e.g. "Can you check it for me, please. / I'll give it a check." We also talk about "check up" if it's medical. (And everyone knows check-in where your documents are checked!)
And a "Hundeleine" is a " dog lead".
And another "false friend" - I can't remember if it was in the list - is the English word "sensible" - it means "vernünftig" and not "sensibel".
One more just occurs to me: at the end of letters etc. we do not write "Greetings". In a business letter we (British) write "Yours faithfully", "Yours sincerely" or possibly "Yours truly".
In an informal letter we would probably write "Best regards", "Best wishes", "All the best" and to really good friends "Cheers" and "Love".
