Re: My opinion about your article “The Public’s Right to Know”
Sir,
With reference to your article of 2/1/2007 “The Public’s Right to Know” I want to comment on that topic.
My opinion is using masquerading is a very complicated thing. On the one hand it is a good way to get true, first-hand information but on the other hand it is against the law and dangerous. I read the article and remembered myself at Günther Wallraff and his book “Ganz Unten” in which he explained his methods and memorys. He worked for example as a medicament tester or as worker in a Mc Donald’s restaurant and gave the readers of his books first-hand informations from his point of view.
To my mind the action of Gene Roberts “hätte sehr gefährlich enden können “ if the other people “hätten gedacht” he is a real doctor.
I think the biggest problem is that professional journalist have to follow the “Journalistic code” and this code says that members of the press have to perform with fairness and they have to show respect for the privacy and rights of the people.
