Translation - religious terms

Beitrag von Br. Aloysius-Matthias »

Good morning from Germany! I'm a new member in this forum. I'm a brother in a religious community in Germany and I am translating the homepages of our community. I examinate at a university of applied sciences in Germany. The verbalizations of some phrases are quite difficult, especially the subjunctive. I read the recommodations in the forum about it, but I could not find the explanation for the german "habe".

My problem: "Ein Mann habe überhaupt nicht daran teilgenommen..."
"Er sei ignoriert worden..."

I wrote: "A man wouldn't have take part a bit in it."
"He were be ignorated..."

"Der Ortspfarrer habe überhaupt nicht an der Vorbereitung teilgenommen und der vor den Firmungskandidaten sprechende Pastoralassistent sei einfach ignoriert worden" is the whole sentence.

I have another question. Is there area, where I can find typically words and phrases for religious terms, for translation?

Thank for your helping.

hello!

unfortunately i don't know any place to get help for these sorts of translations... but maybe i can help with your sentence... i'd translate it like this:

The local pastor was said to have not participated in the preparation at all and the pastoral assistant, who was talking to the confirmation candidates, was said to be ignored all together.

cheers,
marie

Thank you very much for your translation. You use "was said to be", then it my thoughts about the correct translations were right!

Thank you very much and God may bless you all the time and for eternity!

Hi Brother,

What sort of religious terms are you looking for (any specific religion)? Perhaps I will be able to help you.
