Participle construction

Folgende Aufgabe:
As he didn't have any money, John couldn't afford a taxi.
AS NOT HAVING, John couldn't afford a taxi.

Muss das nicht heißen:

Not having any money, John.....

As not having... klingt doch völlig fasch - soll aber angeblich richtig sein.

"As" im Sinne von "Da".

Ich würd auch sagen, daß das richtig ist.

"as not having" ist falsch (ich glaube). Was HAT er? EH?

As [pronoun/noun] [did/didn't] have [something] - richtig

"as" funktioniert nicht mit dem Infinitiv...
ohne "as" koennte man den Infinitiv nutzten

"As John did not have any money,"
"As he did not have any money"
"Not having any money,"
"Having no money,"
