History of Skinheads
Skinheads, named after their shaven heads, are members of a subculture that originated in Britain in the 1960s, where they were closely tied to the Rude Boys of the West Indies and the Mods of the U.K. In the public the word skinhead is used as a synonym for neo-Nazi also if they are no skinheads.
The skinhead- movement started in 1969. They originated from white working-class children in east London- a working class district- who grew up with the children of black immigrant from Jamaica and other west Indies. They got to know by the same interest on black music- first Calypso, then Ska, at last by the so called Skinhead-Reggae. At first Rude boys and Mods became “Hard- Mods”. They confined from the fashion- conscious Mods and hippies. The first skinheads wore smart clothes like the Mods. After separation the clothes were changed with the now known working- class outfit. Today they are not as aggressive as previous. Black and white skins fought especially against Pakistan immigrants because they didn´t defend against anyone. Skinheads were part of the hooligans who fought for their club during football matches and so they do today. At the begin of 1970 the black skins turned more and more to the political reggae- scene and isolated from the white culture. One reason was the reggae- war in some discos about titles like “young black and gifted” which white skinheads couldn´t identify to and so they boycotted them. Some skinheads let they hair grow longer to separate from the skinheads and called themselves sudeheads. The political very various skinheads began to separate into right-winged, left-winged and traditional skinheads. The right-winged skins became more and more. It was mainly set on by the National Front and British National Party. The media launched into it very soon and the neo- fascists began to steel the skinhead- look. At the begin of the 80s there were more and more Nazi-skins- by skinheads just named boneheads. They were the most known “skins”, so lots of people thought that every skinhead is like them. There were also skins who demonstrated against racism but the media didn´t tell about it. As a reaction against this stereotype all skinheads are neo-Nazi 1988 S.H.A.R.P.(SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice) was established in NYC. Today the skinheads can be divided into these categories: Traditional skins (some of them say Trojan skins, named after a Ska-label) S.H.A.R.P. skins, left winged redskins, RASH-skins (Red and Anarchist SkinHeads) Oi!-skins and Boneheads who often are no really skins. Oi!-skins have much intersection with punks; lots of Oi!- skins were punks.
For skinheads alcohol is very important and so they drink a lot of beer on concerts or other meetings. Other drugs, especially hard ones are declined by most skinheads.

Skinheads, named after their shaved heads, are member of a subculture that was originated in Britain in the 1960s, where they were closely connected to the Rude Boys of the West Indies and the Mods of the U.K. In public the word skinhead is also used as a synonym for "Neo-Nazi" even if they are no skinheads.
The skinhead- movement started in 1969. They originated from the white working-class as Children in east London- a working class district- grew up with children of black immigrants from Jamaica and other west Indies. (They got to know by the same interest on black music?) - first Calypso, then Ska, at last by the so called Skinhead-Reggae.
At first Rude boys and Mods became “Hard- Mods”. They confined from the fashion-conscious Mods and hippies. The first skinheads wore smart clothes like the Mods. After separation, the clothes were changed with the now known working-class outfit.
Today they are not as aggressive as the have been before. Black and white skins fought especially against Pakistan immigrants because they didn´t defend against anyone. Skinheads were part of the hooligan-scene who fought for their club during football matches and still do today. In the early 1970's the black skins turned more and more into a political reggae- scene and isolated theirselves from the white culture.
One reason was the reggae-war in some discos about titles like “young black and gifted” which white skinheads couldn´t identify with and so they boycotted them.

The political very various skinheads began to separate into right-winged, left-winged and traditional skinheads. The right-winged skins became more and more. It was mainly set on by the National Front and British National Party.
The media (launched into it?) very soon and the neo- fascists began to adopt the skinhead- look. At the beginning of the 80s there were more and more Nazi-skins - called boneheads.
They were the most known “skins”, so lots of people thought that every skinhead were like them. There were also skins who demonstrated against racism but the media didn´t report about it.

The white working-class as children White working-class children
grew up with children of black immigrants from Jamaica and other west Indies.
who grew up with the children of black immigrant from Jamaica and other west Indies.
(They got to know by the same interest on black music?)
They got to know by the same interest on black music- first Calypso, then Ska, at last by the so called Skinhead-Reggae.
wieso muss das in Klammern?
into a political reggae- scene ______ to the political reggae- scene
The media (launched into it?) very soon and the neo- fascists began to adopt the skinhead- look.
The media launched into it very soon and the neo- fascists began to steel the skinhead- look.
ciao Robert
