"media studies" - the study of human culture as reflected by its media (TV, radio, film, etc.)
I think you mean "mass communication studies." Sometimes shortened to just "Communications," but I like your words better.
can you translate "Beratungsfunktion" as "advisory function"
It would depend on its context in the sentence. There might be a phrase that would work better. However, your translation is accurate.
can you translate "Gestaltung der monatlichen PC-Sonderbeilage für die Tageszeitung..." as "dontributing to the monthly special supplement on PCs for the daily..."
Sounds good.
"performance-based salary"
You may say this if you mean that you received bonus money for exceeding sales goals, etc.
"stellvertretender Chefredakteur" as "associate editorin-chief"
Perfect. "associate editor-in-chief"
"freiberufliche Tätigkeit"? "freelance writing? freelance position?"
Sure. Ex. "I am a freelance writer." "I earn money through freelance writing." I wouldn't use "freelance position."
I would like to apply for the position of a project assistant?
I hope someone else gives an opinion on this one. I think it would be better worded "I would like to apply for the position of project assistant." "project assistant" is a title, and for some reason it doesn't sound right to me with an indefinite article. Poor explanation, I know.
administrative tätigkeit im Bereich von Datenbanken
Maybe 'administrative job in the field of database management (or technology?)'

Hi. I have a new question. I want to apply for a freelance job. Is the following formulation correct?

"Do you offer any possibilities of freelance writing?" (I thought of regularly contributing to some magazine/newspaper/news agency)
