ich schreibe gerade für die Fachhochschule eine kleine Hausaufgabe in Englisch über Gefahren im Internet. Wer ist so nett und kann über meine Grammatik drüber gucken?
Nicht falsch verstehen, ich will nicht, dass ihr mir die Aufgabe löst - das wäre ja Schummeln

According to a survey of the University of Connecticut Health Center, US, internet gamblers are about three times more likely to have a problem with addiction (74%) compared with those gamblers without any internet gambling experience (22%). Also, internet gamblers are more likely to have lower education and income level.
Internet is a perfect place to be isolated and anonymous, because there is no direct communication possible like seeing, speaking, hearing, touching or smelling other people. A gambler has just his monitor and keyboard as the only window to the world. Nobody sees him neither what he does.
In my opinion younger people's personality is generelly more likely to be changeable. The younger a human, the greater he can be influenced by his environment, other people or his good and bad experiences. Therefore when young people start to gamble, the probability they become problem gamblers is higher.
First of all, internet is a great benefit for humanity - as an unique world wide communication medium it has become an important part of everyday life. In the last 15 years internet has changed the world like no other technological invention in history in such a short time.
But internet also cares much potential harm. Few of them are described in the following text part, grouped as social, business, privacy and cyber crime harm.
Social harm
Internet has the potential to isolate people. Usualy it is used by single persons, not in groups. Heavy internet users often neglect their social contacts and are in danger of getting addicted by internet, especially by games. Childern and teenager can easily see g-rated content. Also illegal content, for example radical right-wing documents, can be easily broadcasted around the world.
Business harm
According to several surveys, employees seem to have less time for working, when they get an internet account on their desktop. Companies have to pay for their IT security, wich is threaten by the internet: email spam, virus attacks, data theft - that all cost much money, wich could be used for useful business purposes.
Privacy harm
Since internet, privacy is not what it was before. We search for information, go shopping, make business, write our thoughts down and do much more in internet. While we do this, we leave digital marks all other the world. For someone, who is interested in people's privacy, internet is a great treasure trove to find everything out about a person.
Cyber crime
Currently fishing attacks are very often on the news in Germany - criminals try to inveigle email users to give away their online banking accounts in order to steal their money. Dialer programs from internet try to reconfigurate user computers in order to call expensive telefon numbers. Very often copyrighted material like book text, music or a popular movie is been illegaly distributed through internet.
