Dead - Death????

Today I watched the news and they always said his death or his dead!
When do I say dead or death?

death=when he is already dead? or when he was murdered?

dead=when he is about to die?

It was very kind if anybody could help me

I always thougth, death is a noun (=Tod) and dead an adjective (=tot).

He is dead. Death is coming.

But I'm not that sure about it.

Well, as far as I know:
dead = adjective
death = noun

For example:
- He is dead.
- It was a horrible death.

Mir fiele noch ein:

the dead = die Toten,
dann ist es ein Nomen im Plural
