Ich mische mich ein. Die Verdoppelung bestand hier im "eine Diskussion um zu diskutieren". Das ist nicht notwendig, weder im Englischen noch im Deutschen, da eine Diskussion bereits auf die Aktion des diskutierens hinweist.

The same words should not be doubled as it is incorrect in terms of both the English Grammar and German Language. The word 'discussion' being used already stipulates the occurrence of that act. To add 'discuss' again, will only make it cluttered and grammatically incorrect as discussion is a word that leads to a gesture where two or more people discuss, or you can say converse over something.
