Könnte mal jemand den folgenden Text auf grammatische Fehler überprüfen, bitte!?
Vielleicht fällt ja noch jmd. ein, wie ich die letzten Absätze (ab checks and balances) verbinden könnte!?
Danke, im voraus.

Today, I want to speak about the American system of government.
The American Constitution is the oldest written constitution in the world.
The constitution divides the power of the government into three branches.
The first branch is the executive, which is headed by the president. The president, who together with the vice-president is elected to a four year term. The president is the chief formulator of national policy – so he proposes legislation to Congress and may veto against bills passed by Congress. The executive branch of the government is responsible for enforcing the laws of the land. The enforcement and administration of federal law is in the hands of the various executive departments, created by Congress with specific areas of national and international affairs. The heads of the departments, chosen by the president and approved by the Senate, from a council of advisers known as the “President’s Cabinet”.
The second branch is the legislative, which includes both Houses of Congress – the Senate and the House of Representatives. Members of both houses recommend new laws, known as bills, to deal with important issues facing the nation. The Senate is the upper house. There are 100 Senators (two from every state). Senators are elected for six years term. The constitution provides that the vice-president shall be the leader of the Senate. The House of Representatives is the lower house. There are 435 representatives. Representatives are elected for four year term. Representatives represent a district in his or her home state. The House of Representatives chooses its own presiding officer, which is the speaker of the House.
The third branch is the judicial, which is headed by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court interprets the laws and decides if the are constitutional – that is, in accordance with the Constitution of the United States. The Supreme Court meets in Washington, D.C. and the other courts are located in cities throughout the United States.
The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others. This way, no one branch becomes too powerful. Each branch “checks” the power of the other branches to make sure that the power is balanced between them.
Today, there are two major political parties in the United States, the Democratic and the Republican. The Democratic Party is considered to be the more liberal party, and the Republican, the more conservative.
The electorate have all men and women over 18 years and you have lived in one of the 50 states of the United States or the District of Columbia.
Finally, I would say, that the American system of government are a very good organised government.
