can "insolange" mean "so long as"?

Beitrag von edmont »

I came across "insolange" and have not found it in any dictionaries. Wondering if it might be rendered "so long as"

Thank you for any assistance.

Oh glory, the German compound words. It is just a spelling oddity combined with an now archaic phrasing. It's really nothing more than "in so long", however, the way that "in" is most likely used there has fallen out of use since, as we don't tend to compound prepositions so often nowadays. "so long as" is another possible translation.
