should or might?

Is it right to say "one should not forget that" or "one might not forget".
I imagine that it is obvious and this is the reason why I can't find an answer on the internet. However I'm uncertain..

Hello flexnow,

You wouldn't say "one might not forget", you would say "one may not forget that".. "man darf nicht vergessen, dass.."
"One should not forget that".. would be "man sollte nicht vergessen, dass.."

Both sentences have a different meaning both in English and in German.

I hope this helps.

There is one situation in which you could use "one might not forget" and that is when you're talking hypotheticals, although I have to say that it sounds extremely weird with "one" as the pronoun. You certainly find it with other pronouns though, e.g. "I might not forget it this time" (= es könnte sein, dass ich es diesmal nicht vergesse).
