That's one of my biggest problem. I don't understand how I have to filled this gabs with the right tenses. I need an explanation.

Peterborough is a cathedral city with a population of 160,000 inhabitants in the east of England. It is situated on the River Nene and on the main railway line from London to Scotland. Indeed, most people (1) heard (hear) of the city because they (2) have changed (change) trains at Peterborough because of the good connections to other parts of the country.
