I have to answer the following questions. Can your look through my answers, please? Thanks. 

1. When did you last eat a salad? Yesterday I ate a salad at dinner. (This sentence sounds curious to me)
2. When did you last speak English on holiday? It was several years ago. I can't remember me. Maybe it could be in the summer of 2010.
3. Have you ever ridden a horse? Yes, I have. But it's long time ago. 
4. When did you last give someone a present? I gave a present to my daughter last moth. 
5. Have you ever been in the newspaper? No, I haven't. And I don't believe that it will be happen in a future. 
6. Have you ever met anyone famous? No, I haven't. I'm not interested to met anyone famous now. But it may be changed.
7. When did you last go to the cinema? I went to the cinema last weekend with some friends. 
8. Have you ever had an embarrassing experience? Yes, I had. As I cross the road I looked back and didn't see the streetlamp in front of me and as I turned me forward I bumped into the streetlamp. (as or than?)

2. When did you last speak English on holiday? It was several years ago. I can't (really) remember me. I think it might have been during my summer holidays (in AE: summer holiday ohne s) in 2010.
3. Have you ever ridden a horse? Yes, I have. But it was a long time ago. 
4. When did you last give someone a present? I gave a present to my daughter last month. (moth = die Motte)
5. Have you ever been in the newspaper? No, I haven't. And I don't believe that I will be (in any newspaper) in the future. 
6. Have you ever met anyone famous? No, I haven't. I'm currently not interested in meeting anyone famous now. But I might change my mind.
7. When did you last go to the cinema? I went to the cinema with some friends last weekend.
8. Have you ever had an embarrassing experience? Yes, I have. When I crossed a road, I looked behind me and didn't see the street-lamp in front of me. When I turned to look forward again, I bumped into the street-lamp. (as or than? - wuerde ich umschreiben)

It depends on where you're from goodox. In the US it's streetlamp, in GB it's street lamp or street-lamp. 
I correct BE, so my corrections might differ from AE corrections.

Why is "the road" a mistake? In German I can say: Als ich die Strasse überquerte ... oder aber auch: Als ich eine Strasse überquerte ... Umgangssprachlich sagen wir eher "die Strasse" als "eine Strasse".

"As I was crossing the road [one time, yesterday, last week, or whenever this happened,] I looked behind me and didn't see the street lamp in front of me."

That is how I would write it, so yes, we usually say "the road."

We would also use the past progressive tense ("I was crossing the road,") not simple past. This is because you are expressing that the action of bumping into the street lamp happened during a longer action (crossing the road.)

I would say "a road" but "the road" is absolutely fine as well. Compare: als ich ueber eine Strasse ging, oder als ich ueber die Strasse ging. Both is possible in German, too

nein, so geht es nicht, aber Du hast verschiedene Möglichkeiten, goodox:
I'm amazed how different AmE and BrE are.
I wouldn't have expected AmE and BrE to be so different/have so many differences.
I wonder at all these differences between AmE and BrE.
