Hallo,
am Ende eines englischen Satz ist dann noch der Text "as long as two hours":
(and keep it up until the child can breathe by himself or until help comes) as long as two hours.

Die Übersetzung "so lange wie zwei Stunden" ergibt für mich keinen Sinn.

"as long as two hours" ist nicht so einfach zu uebersetzen. Es heisst in diesem Satzkontext soviel wie "nicht laenger als zwei Stunden".

Man kann sicherlich auch "but not longer than two hours" sagen und das waere nicht falsch.

"As long as two hours" ist einfach eine andere Art der Formulieren. Im Deutschen gibt es ja auch verschiedene Formulierungen fuer dieselbe Aussage. Woher genau "as long as two hours" kommt weiss ich leider nicht. Vielleicht ist es einfach nur aelter oder formeller.

Ich glaube, in diesem Kontext bedeutet es mehr wie "nicht weniger als zwei Stunden," oder mit anderen Wörter: Es könnte so lange wie zwei Stunden dauern und davor sollte man nicht aufhören.

Der Satz könnte so formulieren werden: "Keep it up until the child can breathe by himself or until help comes, which could take as long as two hours," oder auch "Keep it up as long as two hours, until the child can breathe by himself or until help comes."

Uwe, Schuyler hat Recht. Ich habe den Satz falsch gelesen und damit falsch interpretiert. Habe gerade auch noch meinen Mann nach seiner Meinung gefragt, und der stimmt Schuyler zu.
