Wie findet ihr mein Englisch? (Informal Response - Blog)

Beitrag von lozcurtis »

Dear Jamila,
I’m Loz and just like you I have a foreign background. I was born in Hidden Hills, which is a district of San Diego in Southern California, and I’ve been living here ever since. Though, both of my parents originally come from European countries.
I totally get why you are doubtful and unsure about what to do in that situation. To be torn between what your loving parents want you to do and what you want for yourself is one of the worst things I can imagine. Still, as hard as it may sound, always, and I truly mean always, do what is best for you. And getting married involunarily is definitely not the right thing to do at this very moment.
If I was you, I’d talk to your father once again and tell him that you‘re not willing to do that. He can’t force you anyway. Let’s come to the worst case scenario. If he keeps being that disagreeable, I’d consider moving out.
Of course, the western lifestyle, which we have in the US as well as in Europe, is different from the one in India. Our culture is not that strict, that’s why I can’t compare my European family to Indian ones. Surely my reaction may seem extreme to you, but I hope that my advice helped you.

I wish you the best.

Danke!!!!

Dein Englisch ist allgemein sehr gut, aber leider nicht total perfekt.
'I come from a foreign background' ist wahrscheinlich besser, aber die Beide sind eigentlisch richtig...

Aber ich würde hier lieber sagen:
I was born in Hidden Hills, which is a district of San Diego in Southern California, and I’ve been living here ever since, although both of my parents originally come from European countries.

Deine Nutzung von 'though' ist da falsch.
Aber das ist allgemein sehr gut :)

No mistakes, just a wee suggestion. Very well done!

If I was were you

Meines Erachtens ist "was" falsch. Es handelt sich ja um einen subjunctive, nicht um simple past.
