Hallo,
ich muss über die Ferien ein Essay schreiben. Ich soll einen Erfolg der Civil Rights Movement beschreiben und ein Beispiel aus der heutigen Zeit nennen an dem die Verletzung der Bürgerrechte deutlich wird.
The civil rights movement was a brave episode in American history. It aimed to give african americans the same citizenship rights who the whites had. But nowadays there are still many problems with racism.
In the 1960s the civil rights movement achieved impressive judicial and legislative victories against discrimination in public facilities and voting. For example in 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. Because she refused, she was arrested and fingerprinted. It became a famous case in the fight against Jim Crow laws. These and other civil rights demonstrations moved President John F. Kennedy to decide a new civil rights law. The proposed law allowed African Americans to vote, to shop, to eat out, and to be educated on equal terms. It wasn’t a complete success but still considerable success in fighting discrimination.
Today police brutality is still a problem in our society, which exists in many countries, even in those that outlaw it. One example for police brutality is the case of Tamir Rice. Tamir Rice ran on a walkway and played with a weapon. He aimed at a passer-by and took a seat in a small pavilion. A few seconds later came a police car and stopped next to the pavilion. Two officers get out of the car. At the same time Tamir Rice moved to the vehicle and played with his belt. One of the policemen shot directly after leaving the car at the boy. After the incident came out, that Tamir Rice’s weapon was a soft-air of a Colt M1911, without a required orange muzzle.
I am strict against racism, but no matter how much we fight against racism, I think that racism will always be a problem in our societies.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Daniel

[Ich verstehe nicht, was du mit dem letzten Satz sagen willst. Meinst du vielleicht, "After the shooting, it was discovered that Tamir Rice’s weapon was a soft-air of a Colt M1911 without a required orange muzzle."?]
I am strictly against racism, but no matter how much we fight against it, I think that racism will always be a problem in our societies.
