Review of Star Trek: First Contact

Could you review my review? :D Thanks in advice.

The film I would like to review is 'Star Trek: First Contact'. The story based on the Star Trek Tv show 'Enterprise' from 1960s.
Far away in the future the earth is a member of federation of different alien planets. The federation has a Starfleet who protects all alien planets. There is a federation enemy with the name Borg. The Borg travel back in the past to destroy the federation. They want interrupt  the first meeting between humans and aliens. No first contact, no federation. There is Star Fleet space ship 'Enterprise' with Patrick Stuart as Cap. Picard. The Enterprise crew travel back in the past too. They try to stop the Borg plan.
The movie is a big space adventuare for the Saturday night. There is fun, there is a lot of action and there is a lots of special effects. But the best movie part is Cap. Picard. Mr Stuart's acting is awesome and enjoyable. Thank you Patrick, I am always impressed when I see you. I just want say: 'dont change yourself'.

Far from the present day, in the future the earth is a member of a federation of different alien planets. The Federation (capitalisation as this is the short form of the full name: United Federation Of Planets) has a Starfleet which protects all alien planets. There is a Federation enemy called Borg. Well, I'm neither treckie nor trekker, as such don't know anything about the story, but here we speak about a single person/entity/organism and in the next sentence there are more of them?! The Borg travel back into the past to destroy the Federation. They want to interrupt/to thwart?  the first meeting between humans and aliens. No first contact, no Federation. However, the Starfleet spaceship 'Enterprise' under Captain (Jean Luc) Picard portrayed by Patrick Stewart can also travel back in time, and they do so to stop the Borg from carrying out their plan.

The movie is a big space adventure, ideal for a Saturday night in. It is humorous, but there is also a lot of action, with a rather large amount of special effects. Patrick Stewart's portrayal of Captain Picard, is outstanding and enjoyable. Thank you Patrick, I am always impressed when I see you. I just want say: 'don't ever change'.

You are right Duckduck (see comment above in purple), it should be Borg, not the Borg, as they are a collective entity, referring to the collective as one person (hive). I have corrected this :)

Ultimo, your essay is more a summary than a review of the film. If you want to write a review, then you should bring in your own thoughts on the film, and on certain aspects of the film, i.e. what was good, what was poor, what could have been done to improve certain things? Also, I'd explain further who Borg are, and maybe mention some important facts about or events in the film, such as Zefram Cochrane's maiden flight at warp speed. I personally think that this is quite an important event, not only in this film, but for the overall development of Starfleet and space travel, don't you think?

Ein oder zwei Überseherle,

liebe Grüße von

As a trekker I have to say this: First Contact is not based on the original series from the 1960s (which, by the way, is only called "Star Trek" and not Enterprise) but on Star Trek: The Next Generation which aired first in 1987.

I disagree slightly (just between us trekkies/trekkers    ).

While the film as such is based on Star Trek: The Next Generation and the characters of Jean Luc, Riker etc, the series Star Trek: The Next Generation again is based on Star Trek: The Original Series - so without wanting to be nit-picky, I think a graded reference is acceptable.

Using "Enterprise" when referring to Star Trek: The Original Series is difficult. While trekkies do normally understand which series you refer to, it can lead to confusion between Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Enterprise which is known as Enterprise. So yes, I agree, that this should be changed in the original text.

Oh, and please no discussion about trekker vs. trekkie - I find "trekkie" the nicer sounding term, despite it being considered disrespectful towards serious fans

Thank you for all comments.
I think my review is not a summary. I did learn that a review starts with title and a background story sentence. Then I must summarize the movie shortly. No detials like first warp flight. Finally, I must write my opinion. I must write why I do/dont like the movie.
I agree with you, I should write more about my feelings.
Best Regards,

ultimo.
