An meiner Schule wird diesen Monat die mündliche Prüfung in Englisch durchgeführt.
Wir haben dort 2 Themen wodrüber wir jeweils einen 3-4 Minuten Vortrag vorbereiten müssen.
Die Themen dafür sind:
- American High School (Pro - Cons)
- New York (History, Sights)
Ich habe meinen Text über New York fertig geschrieben, jedoch weiß ich nicht, ob er so wie er ist, gut gegliedert ist, und ob die Informationen ausreichen. Wir sollen in unserem Text mindestens 2. Sehenswürdigkeiten etwas näher beschreiben (ich habe mich für das Empire State Building und den Central Park entschieden).
Nun würde ich euch bitte, diesen Text einmal auf Grammatik (es werden höchst wahrscheinlich viele Grammatik und Rechtschreibfehler enthalten sein :s) zu überprüfen, und eventuelle Verbesserungsvorschläge sowie Ergenzungen zu posten.
Vielleicht sind hier auch Lehrer unterwegs, die schon mündliche Prüfungen gemacht haben. Ich weiß, dass die bestimmt von Schule zu Schule anders ist, aber ich denke, man kann das ein bisschen verallgemeinern. Wohne in NRW, da anscheind auch viele Bewertungen von BL zu BL anders sind. Vielleicht könnten diese (und auch gerne andere!) den Text mal in Schulnoten bewerten! (Bin im E-Kurs, also gerne was strengen)

Hello. Today I want to tell you something about the history of New York and its sights. First, I will tell you something about the history. In 1609, the English explorer Henry Hudson arrived at the island. After Henry Hudson, some dutch explorers arrived there and bought the island for $24, and named it „New Amsterdam“. After some years, in 1664 English people comes to New Amsterdam. They claimed the island and named it „New York“. After a while Ellis Island got created. Now, millions of immigrants, which escaped their home country because famine, poverty, war and oppression, arrived there when they want to immigrate into the USA. While the drove from New York Harbor to Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, which was a present from the France, welcomed them! All immigrants had to pass medical and mental tests. Two percent of the immigrants was sent back to their home county. Possible reasons for that was a criminal background. Because of that Ellis Island became the name “Island of Tears”. In the 1954th the registry room closed. Until the date, 12 millions immigrants passed the process. Today, it's a museum. Now, New York has five boroughs. Manhattan, which is the most famous borough, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Staten Islands and Queens, where people out 126 nations live. New York is the largest city in the USA, with about 9 million inhabitants. New York is about 786 square kilometers large. In New York, there are 170 languages spoken. New York is not only the largest city in the USA. No! They have also the most impressive sights! For example the Empire State Building, which is about 448 meters high. If you're on the top of it, you have a spectacular view over New York! The Empire State Building stays in the Fifth Avenue which is the most expensive shopping street in New York. When you stay on the Empire State Building, you see also the Central Park, which is in the middle of Manhattan. The Central Park is the most safest public park in the USA. The Central Park is not a normal park. The Central Park is a park, which haves fields for sports, a zoo, many seas, and so on...

You should be a lot more specific and avoid irrelevant words such as some, now, that, it.. Also, you have only listed two sights in your essay, the Empire State Building and Central Park.

Laut der Arbeits- und Informationsblätter unserer Englischlehrerin sei der New York Harbor die Anlaufstelle für Einwanderer gewesen sein. Von dort aus seinen sie per Schiffen nach Ellis Island gefahren worden sein. Während der Fahrt fuhren sie/sahen sie die Freiheitsstatue, welche ein Geschenk der Franzosen war.

Ich finde, man sollte die ersten Einwohner der Region auch mit benennen. Die Ursprünglichen Bewohner der Gegen waren die Lenape
Henry Hudson ist zwar 1609 dort angekommen, er war aber nicht der erste Europäer. 1524 war bereits Giovanni da Verrazzano, ein Florentiner im Auftrag der Französischen Krone, dort und hat die Region als Nouvelle Angoulême für die Franzosen beansprucht.
Henry Hudson war selbst zwar Engländer, aber er hat die Gegend nicht für die Engländer beansprucht sondern für seinen Arbeitgeber, die Niederländische Ostindien-Kompanie.
Nach Hudson gab es keine "dutch explorers". Die Niederländer errichteten etwa vier Jahre nachdem Hudson die Gegend für sie beansprucht hatte dort einen Pelzhandelsposten, der die ersten Jahre zunächst nur von dem Dominikanischen Händler Juan Rodriguez (für die Niederländer) gehalten wurde. 1624 wurde dann auf der Insel Paggank die erste Ansiedlung von Pelzhändlern gegründet. Die Niederländer übersetzten den Namen Paggank einfach nur als Noten Eylandt (=Nußinsel).
Ein Jahr später begannen die Holländer dann mit dem Bau eines Forts mit dem Namen "Fort Amsterdam" auf der Insel Mann-hata (heute Manhattan). Diese Insel wurde den Lenape abgekauft.
Die $24 sind eine Legende. Zum Einen gab es ja gar keine Dollar zu dieser Zeit. Die Legende besagt, dass die Lenape nur Glasperlen im heutigen Wert von $24 bekommen hätten. Das stimmt nicht! Die Insel wurde für 60 Gulden von den Lenape gekauft, wie aus den Geschäftsbüchern der Niederländischen Ostindien-Kompanie hervorgeht. Dieser Preis entspricht einem heutigen Wert von ungefähr 1000 Euro, was nicht sehr viel klingt, aber zu dieser Zeit in Amerika dem üblichen Kaufpreis entsprochen hat. Um das Fort entstand daraufhin die Siedlung "Nieuw Amsterdam".
